Book review

Recently, I finished reading the book called The spirit of Chinese which is written by Ku HungMing. Mr. Ku was such a brilliant person that he was proficient in 9 countries’ language and got thirteen doctor’s degrees. He accepted lots of western education but he wrote this book during the World War I to propaganda the Chinese culture to the west countries. Using his own pen to protect the dignity of Chinese culture, he tried to explain the spirit of Chinese civilization and reveal the value to the western people. After reading his work, I have a deeper understanding of the connotation of Chinese national spirit. After reading his book, I can’t help thinking ‘what the spirit of Chinese really is?’ The book attributes the cultural immersion of the Chinese people entirely to Confucianism and rise the right up to a special status as the country religion.
