the spirit of the chinese MH2019-02-24
After reading this book, I benefited a lot and realized the unique charm of Chinese spirit for the first time.
This book is divided into three parts: good people religion, Chinese spirit, Chinese women and Chinese language. What impresses me most in the preface is the author's discussion of the war. The moral roots of the war, the author says, lie in the cult of the mob in Britain and the cult of power in Germany. And the German power worship is derived from the hatred of the British mob worship. In the end, it produced a monstrous German militarism. The only way to be truly free is for everyone to obey the rules and discipline himself.
There is a sentence in the book which gives me a deep feeling. It is the selfishness and cowardice of each of us that leads to the cult of the mob. Selfishness makes us cynical， cowardice makes us afraid to stand up against the crowd, against the mob. In fact, this sentence is applicable at any time and occasion, it can even be said that this sentence reveals the bad nature of people. Because people do not want to be isolated and targeted by the masses, they start to go with the flow. They just blindly follow the steps and eyes of the masses and cannot be honest with themselves. I like whatever everybody likes, even if I don't like it at all. People hate what, so, even if I like, I also pretend to hate. This is how the controversial campus violence comes into being. Maybe to me, this person is just a classmate, but most people in the class don't like him, so I must not like him, or I will certainly be targeted by most people. Then, because the whole class does not like a person, so even if he is just a stranger, the class will gradually ignore this person. Therefore, behind the sad campus cold violence, are a group of cowardly and selfish groups.
